Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Well, we're in the middle of a contagion.  I figure it was time to revisit one of my favorite zombie movies.  It's Shaun of the Dead.  And it's how the world will be in a few days I presume.  What started as something that most people didn't notice and/or ignored will end up with us all eating each other very shortly.  And not in the good Las Vegas way.

This is a zombie movie.  It's a comedy.  It's a romance flick.  It captures how crazy everyone gets when they're all cooped up together for too long.  I'm feeling this now.  It's the end of the world and we gotta figure out a way to get through this.

So yeah, watch this one if you like horror movies.  Watch it if you like to laugh.  Watch it if you're into romance.  Watch it because Liz is hot.

Don't watch it if you're a fan of Prince's soundtrack to the Batman 1989 film.  What's wrong with that album?  We all want to Batdance!

Rating: 6 out of 6 darts in the head.

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Get ready to roast me.  I haven't seen this movie since probably sometime in the 90's.  I remember it being great.  However, rewatching it today it just doesn't seem to hold up very well.  I mean, it's not bad, it's just kind of boring.  I love the character of Indiana Jones but this movie seems to drag a lot.  There's a lot to like here but it just takes so long.  They could have trimmed this movie down by at least a half an hour to make it rock more.

The one lesson that you should learn from this movie is don't double cross Indiana Jones.  Dr. Octopus did.  He dead.  The monkey did.  He dead.

The final act is pretty great and the special effects are pretty horrifying at times.  There's good stuff here.  Just not as much good stuff as I want.

I'm going to continue rewatching this series because as I said, it's not bad.  It just gets boring.  Let's hope the sequels pick up the pace a bit.

Rating:  3 dead monkeys out of 6.

Trick 'r Treat (2007)

I finally watched Trick 'r Treat.  I have often heard how awesome this movie was.  It was a little underwhelming.  It wasn't bad.  It just wasn't the greatest thing ever.  It's an interesting take on the anthology format.  At first, I didn't quite get what was going on.  I didn't realize it was an anthology until much later.  That's right, I did no research prior.  Whatever.  It's a movie, not a goddamned homework assignment.

My favorite story was the final one about the old man.  Though I did enjoy each of the stories, I thought the final one tied everything together quite nicely.  There's plenty of twists and turns and some solid dark humor.  There are some unexpected things done and it works quite well.

Overall, good modern horror movie.  Just not the greatest thing since Dolly Parton as so many would have you believe.

I watched a damn movie

I love watching movies.  I never have a chance to watch movies.  When I do have a chance to watch movies, I don't watch movies.  Now, I'm watching some movies.  This is what I think of movies that I watch.
